Lucas had been bugging us for a few weeks to allow him to go to Footy practice (Australian Rules Football). Being already busy with piano, chess and swimming lessons, we thought he had enough on his plate and were a bit hesitant. But at the end, we didn’t want him to miss out on this real Australian experience. Unfortunately, when we finally signed him up for AFL Auskick, we realized there were only a few weeks left before the end of the
season. He was still able to participate in some practices, though, and even got to play a game with the Doutta stars! That was cool. The coaches and the other kids were so welcoming and nice to Lucas and even voted for him to be their team captain for the game! The new guy! At the end, he got an award and a McDonalds voucher. This seems to be the result of the Australian mentality: wherever Lucas shows up here, he gets welcomed with open arms. Pecking order/ Bullying/ Mobbing? In his class? Or at Footy? Unknown words. No wonder he likes Australia so much.
