The Grampians

The weekend of May 30th, June 1st & 2nd we spent with the ITF teachers in the Melbourne “mountains“. The Grampians are a 2 ½ hour drive from Melbourne and more like a nature park with hills rather than mountains. In the mornings, kangaroos and cockatoos (the white bird on the picture) visited us at our cabin on the campground. The area was very beautiful and reminded us of Canada. On Saturday, a local club (similar to a Rotary Club), had organized a tour for us where we got to, among other things, visit a vineyard and watch a sheep farmer shearing his sheep. Mark wasn’t too impressed with the sheep shearing but Noemi got right in there. As always, we had a fun time with the ITF teachers and the wine we had bought at the vineyard was gone too quickly.
Das Wochenende vom 30. Mai / 1. & 2. Juni verbrachten wir mit den ITF Teachers in den „Bergen“ von Melbourne. Die Grampians sind ca 2 ½ Autostunden von Melbourne entfernt und eigentlich nicht wirkliche Berge, mehr ein Naturpark mit Hügeln. Am Morgen kamen Kängurus und Cockatoos (der weisse Vogel auf dem Photo) zu unserer Unterkunft auf dem Campingplatz. Die Gegend war sehr schön und erinnerte uns an Kanada. Am Samstag hatte ein örtlicher Club (so was wie Rotary) für uns einen Ausflug organisiert, bei dem wir unter anderm einen Weinbauern besuchten und einem Bauern beim Schafe scheren helfen durften. Mark war zwar nicht gerade begeistert vom Scheren, dafür packte Noemi tatkräftig mit an. Wie immer hatten wir es lustig, wir ITF Teachers, und der beim Weinbauer eingekaufte Wein war bald aufgebraucht.
